17 Feb 2013

It has been a difficult two weeks for the both of us. Charlene has been crying a lot and sleeping very little. At the same time, those obvious fits never appear again. However, there were instances where her left hand and leg stiffen and she would have a fearful look on her face. Perhaps those were fits. Also, a friend told us that Charlene might be experiencing spikes in her brain causing discomfort and hence the excessive crying.

We brought her to see the Nuh doctor to see if there was anything that could be done. The doctor gave us some sedative so that at least Charlene can sleep at night. With more sleep, there would be less chances of fits and she would be less grouchy as well. The new medication (lacmital) is in its 6 weeks, it needs another 6 weeks to take effect. Please pray that the new medication will be effective in controlling Charlene's fits completely without any side effects. Thank you!

10 Feb 2013

I received a call from kkh outpatient pharmacy to inform us that potassium bromide has arrived. I called Clinic K to request for a prescription from any of the doctors that has seen Charlene. I was told that only the neurologist could prescribe the medication because it is an anti-epilectic drug. A few days later, a nurse from the neuro department relayed the doctor's message to us. I was told that we cannot get the prescription because the doctor has discharged Charlene. Discharge? On what basis? The nurse said the doctor said that since Charlene is already seeing the nuh neurologist, to prevent conflicts and different directions from different doctors, hence she is discharged.

I didn't know a patient can be discharged over the phone and the message is relayed by a nurse. I didn't know that seeking a second opinion for my child who has such uncontrollable seizures will lead to an automatic discharge with no regards to Charlene's well-being. Even if the doctor wants to discharge us, he should at least see us for the last time, tell us face-to-face why we are discharged and give us the medication since it is already in the pharmacy. Yet, we were told more than once that we are discharged. Apparently, the doctor doesn't really care if Charlene gets the medication on time or not (since it is an anti-epliectic drug, it will have consequences on her fits). Such unprofessionalism!

3 Feb 13 - Visit from a pastor

Our church friend, who drives a taxi has been giving me and Charlene free ride to the hospital.

He told me that he knows a visiting pastor, who has been involved in miracle healing. So he asked for our permission to bring her over to our place. I agreed.

The pastor minister globally and shared with us the miracle healing which she has witnessed. She also explained the concept of spirit/soul and praying in tongues. She then prayed for me and Dez, and we prayed in tongues for Charlene.

What was unique about the visit is after the pastor left. Dez picked up Charlene and found that she was sweating at the forehead. And not just sweat but a layer of oil.

I touched Charlene's forehead and realized that there's a light scent. And the scent smell exactly the same as the detox tea which Melissa brought the day before. Which I so coincidentally drank today's morning.

Is that a sign? We believe that the prayer is showing physiological effects on Charlene.
